Moki Treks Trips

Finally it is your vacation and time away from the desk, stress, your boss and the to-do list. Imagine floating quietly in a canoe on one of America's greatest rivers.

All you have to worry about now is taking enough pictures, soaking up the scenery and eating all that delicious food we prepare for you. Before you sign on to one of our trips, please read the following carefully:

  Canoeing
easy canoeing flat water
current, mostly flat water, strainers and logs across water
turbulent water, strong eddielines occasional class 1 - 2 rapid

  Walking
easy flat trails no elevation differences
walking on uneven terrrain up and down
ascends and descending trails, stream crossings, elevation difference 1000 feet
Please assess your ability to paddle and/or hike on the trip. Are you fit enough to paddle hours on end or walk all day long? If you discover during the trip this is not for you, it may ruin your vacation.
We camp in the wilderness. There is no comfort of flushing toilets, linen on tables or running showers. We like to provide a pure wilderness experience and practice the leave-no-trace principles on all our trips.
In Aboriginal country our schedule may conflict with that of our native hosts and we may have unexpected surprises. We cannot be governed by the clock and need to stay flexible and sensible.
On most of our trips there is no mobile phone reception or access to email - especially in Canyon de Chelly and on the Missouri and Green Rivers.
We focus on education on our trips. We like to share geology, biology, archeology, natural and cultural history. Occasionally, we have native guest speakers or other local experts share their knowledge. This is what sets Moki Treks apart from other tour companies.
Come prepared for the trip - read a book ahead of time to engage in discussions; bring the items listed on the packing list; and get out walking or canoeing!
