American Indians who lived on the local territory, were considered wild, and the conquerors treated them as mentally underdeveloped people, or as to the children cruelly deceiving them and destroying. There were many transactions, for some American Indians gave up their land for beads, knives and stuff, and were forced to leave their territory.

The fate of all Indian tribes deserve a separate discussion. Surprisingly even the fact that for almost 500 years of colonization and the brutal struggle for survival, Native Americans still managed to preserve the basic and most important traditions of their ancestors. Of course, not all tribes have survived till this day, however, the Indians of North America are still one of the largest organizations in the protection of indigenous ethnic groups. Only through this and similar organizations made possible the studing of Indian culture and customs: it is one thing to carry out excavations in the dead city, step by step, breaking a path to the wild guesses and quite another to restore the true course of events, based on a living culture, even if it is experienced many changes over the past century.
