North American Indians
The fate of all Indian tribes deserve a separate discussion. Surprisingly even the fact that for almost 500 years of colonization and the brutal struggle for survival, Native Americans still managed to preserve the basic and most important traditions of their ancestors. Of course, not all tribes have survived till this day, however, the Indians of North America are still one of the largest organizations in the protection of indigenous ethnic groups. Only through this and similar organizations made possible the studing of Indian culture and customs: it is one thing to carry out excavations in the dead city, step by step, breaking a path to the wild guesses and quite another to restore the true course of events, based on a living culture, even if it is experienced many changes over the past century.
Generally, before the white came to their land, the South and the North American Indians, were at the level of primitive man, knew no clothes, no weapons (only the most primitive versions). Imagine how it was to the tribes, who lived quietly in his disposition, to meet with modern man? Of course, the Indians of North America were shocked by this fact, and felt that Gods came to them. “Gods” have brought the beautiful fabrics, jewelry, for which North American Indians pay in gold bullion, the hardest difficulty and other valuables. Was the white ashamed of what they were doing – probably not, most of them believed that they carries the benefit to unfortunate families who do not know “God”. True, they did not bother to ask, if the free Indians of North America wanted to get acquainted with all civilized values.
Columbus learned from the Indians how to smoke – and than taught the entire world, North American Indians (and later others) have learned from the white to drink alcohol. Very soon the Indians addicted to alcohol so that they became barter for him recently, that become quite “normal” alcoholics.
But gradually, over time, the Indians of North America began to realize how insidious invaders who came to him, and began trying to show defiance. Unfortunately, it ended very sadly – the conquerors, accustomed to obedience, to any attempt to revolt mercilessly slaughtered the entire settlement of Indians. This led to an aggravation of the war between those and the other, killing whole tribes (for example, of the Mohicans), and many murders of white people. Indians (North America and South) possessed good knives, threw hatchets and masterly headhunt – after such an operation, few remained alive. In the course of the Indians were numerous and torture, and particularly violent, so the hostility has led to many deaths as the one or the other.
On our site we have tried to collect the most interesting information about the North American Indian tribes, which left a significant imprint on the history of the continent, and in world culture in general. Also, we’ll talk about the outstanding people belonging to this culture and the most interesting traditions extant.
